Quality Mark
The CANparent Quality Mark sets out what organisations need to have in place in order to prove that they are delivering quality approved classes based on sound evidence, with strong governance practices, financial and risk management procedures.
Supporting Links are very proud to have earned the CANparent Quality Mark for four of our courses. We have always prided ourselves in the high quality of our work and our professional ethos, so when the Quality Mark was announced, we felt it was important that we opened our courses and business up to the scrutiny the Quality Mark requires.
The CANparent Quality Mark sets out what organisations need to have in place in order to prove that they are delivering quality approved classes based on sound evidence, with strong governance practices, financial and risk management procedures. Coupled with robust systems for training, supervision and measuring and evaluating outcomes. It also lays a path to improvement for those starting off within the sector.
Organisations must be able to demonstrate how their work makes a positive difference in order to bid successfully for public sector contracts. By achieving the CANparent Quality Mark, they prove that they can do this.
The CANparent Quality Mark is the only quality mark that covers the work of all providers of Universal Parenting classes, be they charities or other organisations. No other Quality Mark brings together all the essential areas of having an evidence based approach to delivery, effective governance and engagement with parents. The CANparent Quality Mark can also be used as a way of supporting an organisation’s future development, it can be a framework of something to aspire to. The CANparent Quality Mark allows commissioners a guarantee that an organisation is right and proper to deliver worthwhile and effective solutions to parents.
CANparent is a network of organisations that provide quality assured universal parenting classes, advice and support for all mums, dads and carers of children from birth to 18 years. These classes are proven to be effective and make a real and positive difference to all parents and families – whether this be in the form of groups, one to one sessions or online.
CANparent universal classes cover all of the topics any mum, dad or carer of a child will face; be it daily routines; managing relationships; team parenting; behaviour or practical solutions to everyday challenges. While every family is different and every child is different, many parents find that they go through the same challenges, issues and joys as other mums and dads.
Attending a CANparent accredited class, ensures that the class you pick:
- Is relied on by parents to make a positive difference, it is evidence informed, monitored and evaluated to improve parent child relationships.
- Is recommended by other parents.
- Is responsive, warm and relational, engaging with parents and builds on these effective relationships to meet their needs.
- And that you can rely on the integrity of the class provider, its professional conduct, competence, financial and governance systems, and data protection/confidentiality, to ensure suitability to deliver a class.
To be considered as universal, a parenting class must:
1. Include subjects covering all of the following content:
- Communication and listening
- Managing relationships
- Play, explore and learning
- Different parenting styles and behaviour
- Rules and routines
- Creating a supportive and nurturing home environment
2. Have the following delivery approach:
- Appropriate settings for parents
- Content based on evidence of effectiveness
- Include opportunities to reinforce learning
- Flexible delivery models
- Is linked to other parenting support services
3. Ensure that any trained workforce and materials are delivered with the original programme in mind, to ensure fidelity
4. Collect and analyse participation and satisfaction data
